Horns to Havana is a project designed to facilitate cultural exchange between the world of American jazz and the gifted music students of Cuba, worlds that share deep roots in the soil of Europe and Africa..
To strengthen the ties between
us and to fulfill the dreams of
aspiring young Cuban musicians, we’ve embarked on a variety of musical and educational programs. We hope you’ll take a look at our projects and consider joining our musical dialogue.
NEWS for DECEMBER 2014
Our extraordinary and talented Instrument Repair mavens have returned for a week at ‘el taller’ in Havana
to work again with their Cuban collaborators to repair as many instruments as possible in a 24 hour day x 1
week period. Eternal GRATITUDE. So far the shop
has repaired over 4100 instruments.
Horns to Havana is pleased to announce that master Cuban jazz musician, CHUCHO VALDÉS, has become a member of our Advisory Council.
The four Cuban professors, Victor Vargas, Yariel Hernandez, Enrique Rodriguez and Rodolfo Horta, had an amazing three days participating in the 18th Annual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival. Many thanks to Jazz at Lincoln Center for this exquisite collaboration with Horns to Havana. We are planning now for 2015!
